Registering a member
Create an individual or business member at a branch — every field explained.
A member (client) is anyone who saves or borrows with you. Every loan, savings account, share and wallet belongs to a member — or to a group of members.
Individual or business
Choose Individual for a person, or Business for a company, association or chama that holds accounts in its own name. A business member is registered under its business name instead of a first and last name.
Register a member
- Open the members list and click Add.
- Choose Individual or Business.
- Fill in the identity and contact fields below.
- Choose the branch they belong to and their loan officer.
- Save. Zung assigns a member number; you can now add KYC documents, next of kin and accounts.
Fields
| Field | Required | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Prefix | optional | Mr, Mrs, Ms, Dr… |
| First name / middle name / last name | individuals | Exactly as on their national ID — this is matched during KYC. |
| Business name | businesses | Registered name of the business, association or chama. |
| Mobile | required | Primary phone number. Used for SMS receipts and as the M-Pesa number for collections — check it carefully. |
| Alternate number / landline | optional | Other numbers to reach the member. |
| optional | For statements and portal sign-in. | |
| Date of birth | optional | Used for age checks and age-band reports. |
| Gender, marital status | optional | Used in outreach and gender-lens reporting. |
| Work status | optional | Employed, self-employed, etc. — feeds loan appraisal. |
| Branch | required | The branch the member belongs to. Staff only see members of their permitted branches. |
| Group | optional | The solidarity group or customer group the member belongs to. |
| Loan officer | optional | The officer responsible for this member — their loans appear in that officer’s portfolio. |
| Address — city, state, country, zip code | optional | Physical address, used for field visits and statements. |
Important
Before registering, search for the member by name, phone and member number. Duplicate members split one person’s history across two records and hide over-indebtedness.
