Funds

A fund is the source of the money you lend — own capital, a donor fund, a wholesale loan from a bank. Every loan product and every loan names a fund, so you can report the portfolio and repayments by funder (see the Loan funds movement report).

  1. Open Loans›Funds.
  2. Add each funding source with a clear name, e.g. “Own capital”, “KCB wholesale line 2026”.

Loan purposes

Every loan records a purpose (business expansion, school fees, agriculture, housing…). Purposes feed portfolio analysis and many regulators’ returns. Keep the list short and match it to the categories your regulator asks for.

Tip
You cannot create a loan without a fund and a purpose, so set both up before migrating your portfolio.
